Today I have created something quite different. It is commonly known as a Junk Journal. This is such a fun project to work on and as you can see, the result is absolutely beautiful. It is so worth the effort. Visit My Store to purchase all you need to create this journal. There is a link at the end of this post to a helpful tutorial on one way of making a junk journal.
It can be made out of most Designer series papers with some ordinary lined or plain paper interspersed. I have used a printable series of paper which I have printed out onto Very Vanilla Cardstock. I used a lot of Tear & Tape, Stampin Seal + and Fine-Tip Glue Pen. There is a fair bit of cutting needed in this project. Using a good quality Paper Trimmer makes things so much easier. Scissors or snips are also important.
The wonderful thing about a book like this is that it can be used for many different purposes. This one was created as a gratitude journal. The idea is to find five things every day to be grateful for. To exercise the gratitude muscle is to find a brighter and more true life. Even when things in life are dark or difficult, there is always something to be grateful for. Sometimes the only things that can be found are very basic, like being grateful for having clean, running water, a roof over your head or somewhere to sleep. It is about being intentionally grateful, choosing to be grateful instead of letting the good in life go unnoticed.
Another use for a journal like this is as a drawing journal. For all those budding artists, this is a book that is portable and can be filled with whichever type of paper is wanted; watercolour, multimedia, hot press or cold press. Because it is so interchangeable, there is great flexibility in the journal.
There are two envelopes one in the front cover and one in the back. Each one holds bookmarks, tags, postcards and a letter. There are also eight pockets with many tags throughout the journal. All of these are of a size to attach photos to.
The photo above shows the binding sewn through the signature.
I will be making more of these with very different themes. Keep your eyes out for the next instalment.
As you can see, there are lots of cards and tags that can be used to attach photos too and journal on.
All wrapped and ready to give away. Hopefully, this will create another person who chooses gratitude and a more positive life.
